In 1902 he became an associate national academician; and in 1906 became a national academician. Deas, Charles, painter, artist, was born in 1818 in Philadelphia, Pa. Among his more important pictures that have become widely known through engravings are The Turkey Shoot; Walking the Chalk; Long Jake; The Wounded Pawnee; Indian Guide; A Group of Sioux; Hunters on the Prairie; and The Last Shot. De Bolt, Regin A., soldier, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born Jan. 20, 1828, in Fairfield county, Ohio. He entered the volunteer army from Missouri as a captain; and reentered the army in 1864 as a major. He was elected circuit judge; and in 1875-77 he was a representative from Missouri to the fortyfourth congress as a democrat. He died Oct. 29, 1891 in Trenton, Mo.
