Delaney, A. K., lawyer, jurist. In 1897 he was judge of the United States district court of Alaska. Delano, Amasa, sea captain, author, was born Feb. 21, 1763, in Duxbury, Mass. He was a Massachusetts sea captain; and an extensive traveler. He was the author of Narrative of Voyages and Travels. He died in 1817 in Massachusetts. Delano, Charles, lawyer, congressman, was born in 1820, in Braintree, Mass. In 185963 he was a, representative from Massachusetts to the thirty-sixth and thirty-seventh congresses. He died in Massachusetts. Delano, Columbus, lawyer, legislator, congressman, was born June 5, 1809, in Shoreham, Vt. In 1817 he moved to Mount Vernon, Ohio; was a candidate for governor in 1847; and in 1863 was a member of the state legislature. In 1845-47 and 1865-69 he was a representative to the twenty-ninth, thirty-ninth and fortieth congresses as a republican. In 1870-75 he was secretary of the interior. He died Oct. 23, 1896, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Delano, Miss Frances Jackson, educator, author, was born in 1857 in Fairhaven, Mass. She is the author of Susanne; and Polly State. Delano, Frederic Adrain, railroad official, scientist, was born Sept. 10, 1863, in HongKong, China. Since 1905 he has been president of the Wabash railroad; is president of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railroad company; and president of the Wabash Pittsburg terminal railroad company. He is a

He was twice elected sherifl' of Madison county, N.Y. and was a delegate to the national republican convention in 1884. In 1887-91 he was a representative from New York to the fiftieth and fifty-first congresses as a republican.

Delany, Selden Peabody, clergyman, author, was born June 24, 1874, in Fond du Lac, Wis. In 1899 he was ordained priest; and since 1907 he has been dean of All Saints Cathedral of Milwaukee, Wis. He is the author of Difficulties of Faith; The Ideal of Christian Worship; and other works. Delaplaine, Isaac Clason, lawyer, congressman, was born Oct. 27, 1817, in New York City. In 1861-63 he was a representative from New York to the thirty-seventh congress. He died July 17, 1866, in New York City.
Delaplaine, Joseph, publisher, was born Dec. 20 1777, in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1813 he began the serial publication of his Repository of the Lives and Portraits of Distinguished Americans, a series of engravings with biographical notices. He died May 31, 1824, in Philadelphia, Pa. De Large, Robert C, state legislator, congressman, was born March 15, 1842, in Aiken, S.C. He was a member of the state legislature in 1868-70; and was one of the state commissioners of the sinking fund. He was elected in 1870 state land commissioner. In 1871-73 he was a representative from South Carolina to the forty-second congress.
