was born Nov. 5, 1768, in Pottsgrove, Pa. He was a professor of obstetrics in the university of Pennsylvania. He was the author of Medical Essays; Physical and Medical Treatment of Children ; System of Midwifery and Practice of Medicine. He died May 18, 1841, in Philadelphia, Pa. Deweese, John T., lawyer, soldier, congressman, was bom June 4, 1835, in Arkansas. He entered the volunteer army in 1861 was promoted to the rank of colonel in 1863 and after the war was commissioned a lieutenant in the regular army, and stationed in North Carolina. In 1867-71 he was a representative from North Carolina to the fortieth and
