He was a delegate to the Chicago convention of 1864, and also to the Philadelphia national union convention of 1866, as well as the New York convention of 1868; and in 1838-41 held the office of register of the land office at Burlington, Iowa. He died Nov. 20, 1883, in Burlington, Iowa.

Dodge, Charles Cleveland, soldier, was bom New Jersey. In 1861 he was captain in the first regiment of New York volunteer mounted rifie; and in 1862 attained the rank in

brigadier-general of volunteers.

agricultural museum in Washington, D.C. Since 1890 he has been special agent in charge of textile fibre investigation; and has been officially connected with ten international expositions. He is a fellow of the American association for the advancement of science. Dodge, Charles Wright, educator, author, was bom Jan. 15, 1863 in Cape Vincent, N. Y. He is professor of biology at the university of Rochester. He is the author of Introduction to Elementary Practical Biology.

Dodge, David Low, merchant, author, was born June 14, 1774, in Brooklyn, Conn. He was the first president of the New York peace society. He was the author of The Mediator's Kingdom not of this World; and War Inconsistent with the Religion of Jesus Christ. He died April 23, 1852, in New York. Dodge, David Stuart, educator, clergyman, missionary, was born Sept. 22, 1836, in New York City. He was president of the board of home mission of the presbyterian church.

In 1903 he was president of the National temperance society and publication house. He has been a missionary in Syria. Dodge, Ebenezer, educator, author, was born April 22, 1819, in Salem, Mass. He was a baptist clergyman; and in 1868-90 president of Madison, now Colgate university. He was the author of Evidences of Christianity and Christian Theology. He died Jan. 4, 1890, in Hamilton, N.Y. Dodge, Francis Stafford, soldier, was born Sept. 11, 1842, in Danvers, Mass. In 1861 he was a private soldier in the twenty-third regiment Massachusetts infantry; and in 1904 was brigadier-general and paymastergeneral. He was awarded a medal of honor for gallantry in action against Indians in 1879.

Dodge, Frederick, lawyer, jurist, was born April 24, 1847, in Cambridge, Mass. He was United States district judge for Massachusetts for the term of 1905-09. Dodge, George Dudley, manufacturer, poet, 4, 1836, in Hampton Falls, N. H. He has been a cotton manufacturer and merchant; and in 1880 was the nominee ot the prohibition party for governor of New Hampshire. He was a delegate to the national convention of the prohibition party in 1884; and one of its nominees ever since. Dodge, George S., soldier, was born in Vermont.
