Donovan, Joseph M., lawyer, author, was born April 28, 1866, in Littleton, N.H. He is a noted lawyer of Sioux Falls, S.D. He is the author of Law of Divorce and Domestic Relations; and other works. Donovan, Joseph W., lawyer, jurist, author, was born on March 2, 1849, in Toledo, Ohio. He was educated at the Union school of Jonesville, Michigan academy, attended the Ohio law school, and Hillsdale

college.

attained success in the practice of law in Detroit, Mich.; and since 1893 has been judge of the circuit court of Detroit; and is now serving his third sixyear term ending in 1811. He is the author of Modern Jury Trials; Tact in Court; Art of Advocates; and Speeches and Speech-Making. D'Ooge, Martin Luther, educator, clergyman, author, was born July 17, 1839, in the Netherlands. In 1368-70 he was assistant professor of ancient languages at the university of Michigan; and was also acting professor of Greek language and literature. In 1878 he was ordained minister in the congregational church. In 1883-88 he was president of the American philological association. He is the author of On the Crown; Antigone; and History of the Acropolis. Dooley, Patrick C, lawyer, jurist, statesman, founder, was born Dec. 25, 1842, in Ireland. He began the practice of law at De Witt, Ark. In 1872 he was elected to the state senate; and was later appointed circuit judge. In 1888 he organized the Lincoln club of Little Rock; and was its first president. Doolittle, Amos, engraver, was born in 1754 in Cheshire, Conn. While a volunteei at Cambridge he visited the battle ground of Lexington; and on his return to New Haven made an engraving of the action. He died Jan. 31, 1832, in New Haven, Conn. Doolittle, Anson 0., soldier. In 1864 he became lieutenant-colonel in the thirty-seventh regiment Wisconsin infantry. Doolittle, Benjamin, clergyman, author, was born July 10, 1695, in Massachusetts. He was a clergyman of Northfield in 171849. He was the author of Narrative of the Mischief of the French and Indians, 177448; and Inquiry into Enthusiasm. He died Jan. 9, 1749, in Northfield, Mass. Doolittle, Charles Camp, soldier, was born March 16, 1832, in Burlington, Vt. In 1861

he entered volunteer service as a first lieutenant; in 1865 he was made brigadier-general of volunteers; and the same year was brevetted major-general. In 1871-87 he was cashier of the Merchants' national bank, Toledo, Ohio. He died in 1902 in Toledo. Doolittle, Charles Leander, astronomer, author, was born Nov. 12, 1842, in Ontario, Ind. Since 1895 he has been professor of astronomy in the university of Pennsylvania. He is the author of Practical Astronomy as Applied to Geodesy and Navigation.

Doolittle, Eric, educator, author, was born July 26, 1869, in Ontario, Ind. Since 1904 he has ben assistant professor of astronomy in the university of Pennsylvania. He is the author of Measures of Double and Multiple Star. Doolittle, James Rood, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born Jan. 3, 1815, in Hampton, N.Y. He was judge of the first judicial circuit of Wisconsin in 1853-56; and in

1857-69 he was United States senator. He was a member of the peace congress of 1861; and in 1863 was re-elected to the senate for the term ending in 1869. He died July 27; 1897, in Providence, R.I. Doolittle, Lelon Ansil, lawyer, was born July 22; 1853, in Russell, N.Y." He graduated from St. Lawrence university; and from the university of Wisconsin. During 1879-85 he practiced law in Neillsville, Wis.; and since 1885 has practiced his profession in Eau Claire. He has been county superintendent; county judge; and city attorney of Eau Claire three terms. He has been president of the board of directors of the Eau Claire public library; of the Eau Claire republican
