He is a successful cotton planter of Taylortown, La.; and has been president of the police jury; has been a justice of the peace; and for twenty years a member of the school board for Bossier parish. Since 1900 he has been a member of the Louisiana state senate from the twenty-third district. Dosker, Henry E., clergyman, theologian, author, was born Feb. 5, 1855, in the Netherlands. In 1837-41 he was a territorial delegate from Wisconsin to the twenty-fifth and twentysixth congresses in 1841-44 was governor of the territory Wisconsin and for many years was LTnited States judge for northern Michigan. He was also superintendent of Indian affairs; and in 1849-53 he was a representative from Wisconsin to the thirty-first and thirty-second congresses. In 1864-65 he was governor of Utah, of which territory he had previously been treasurer. He died in June, 1865, at Salt Lake City, Utah. Doty, Lockwood Lyon, lawyer, founder, was born May 15, 1827, in Groveland, N.Y. He founded the state military bureau at Albany, which collected the histories of the volunteer regiment and provided for the care of the sick and wounded.
