He was a member of the legislature; and in 1831 sat the convention called to revise the constitution of the state. born Jan. 30, 1835, in Springfield, Mass. In 1864 he was brevetted brigadier-general for gallant and distinguished services; and was made major-general the year following. He was mustered out of service in 1866; and has since been engaged in mercantile pursuits. He invented the Florence oil stove.

1750, in Northampton, Mass. He was frequently elected to the Connecticut legislature and was administrator of the estate of Benedict Arnold at the time of his treason. In 1787-88 he was a delegate from Connecticut to the continental congress; and subsequently filled the office of United States district judge for the state of Connecticut, which he held at the time of his death.
