Cohen, Katherine M., sculptor, artist, was born March 18, 1859, in Philadelphia, Pa. Since 1880 she has been engaged as a sculptor. In 1887-1902 he was professor clinical of medicine and therapeutics in the Philadelphia polyclinic and the college for graduates in medicine. In 1888-1903 he was also lecturer on clinical medicine in Jefferson medical college; and since 1902 has been professor of clinical medicine in that institution. In 1895-99 he was president of the Philadelphia county medical society; is physician to the Philadelphia general, Jefferson, Rush and Jewish hospitals. He is a member of the American association for the advancement of science; and is a member of numerous other medical and scientific societies. started in business in Arkadelphia, Ark.;

and now has one of the largest stores in the state. For eleven years he was director of the First national bank of Little Rock, Ark.

Joseph Alfred Octave, lawyer, statesman, was bom on Sept. 28, 1878, near Thibodaux, La. He received a thorough education; graduated with the degrees of A.B'. and A.M. from Spring Hill college of Mobile, Ala.; and finished in law at Tulane law university of New Orleans, La. He has attained prominence as a successful lawyer; in 18981900 was deputy clerk of court for Lafourche county parish. La.; and has filled various other positions of trust and honor.
