In 1865 he became president of the city national bank of Grand Rapids, Mich. He died Nov. 18, 1894, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Gilbert, Walter Bond, musician, composer, was born April 21, 1829, in England. In 1869 he was appointed organist of Trinity His compositions and chapel. Gilbert, William Ball, lawyer, jurist, was born July 4, 1847, in Fairport county, Va. Since 1893 he has been United States circuit judge for the circuit of Portland, Ore. Gilbert, William Kent, physician, surgeon, was born Dec. 28, 1830, in Gettysburg, Pa. He was county superintendent of schools in 1891-95; was state superintendent in 189597; was president of Hiwassee college in 1897-99; and in 1899-1903 was professor in the Peabody college for teachers of the university of Nashville. Since 1903 he has been superintendent of the Chattanooga publie schools. In 1897-98 he was president of the Tennessee state teachers' association.
