Green, Horace, physician, college president, author, was born Dec. 24, 1803, in Crittenden, Eutland county, Vt. He was president of the New York medical college in 1850-60. He was the author of Diseases of the Air Passages; Pathology and Treatment of Croup; Surgical Treatment of the Polypi 'of the Larynx; and Report of a Hundred Cases of Pulmonary Diseases. He died Nov. 29, 1866, in New York City. Green, Innis, congressman, was born in Dauphin, Pa. In 1829-31 he was a representative from Pennsylvania to the twentieth and twenty-first congresses. He died in Pennsylvania. Green, Isaiah L., congressman, was born Massachusetts. In 1805-09 and 1811-13 he was a representative from Massachusetts to the ninth, tenth and twelfth congresses. He died in 1841 in Massachusetts. Green, Jacob, patriot, clergyman, author, was born June 23, 1722, in Maiden, Mass. He was sent to the provincial congress in 1775; and was chairman of the committee which drafted the state constitution. He died May 24, 1790, in Hanover, Mass. in

Green, Jacob, educator, scientist, author, was born July 26, 1790, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was a, Philadelphia scientist; and was professor of chemistry in JeflTerson medical college. He was the author of Chemical Diagrams; Chemical Philosophy; Astronomical Recreations; Trilobltes; The Botany of the United States; Notes of a Traveler; and Diseases of the Skin. He died Feb. 1, 1841, in Philadelphia, Pa. Green, James Monroe, educator, author, was born Aug. 29, 1851, in Suscasunna, N.J. He was educated in the district schools; in the state model and state normal schools of Trenton, N.J.; at

In 1861 he entered the United States navy as acting ensign; was commissioned commander in 1870; and in 1891 attained the

In 184751 he was a representative to the thirtieth and thirty-first congresses. In 1855-61 he was United States senator. He died Jan. 9, 1870, in St. Louis, Mo., and lies buried in Monticello, Mo.

Green, Jerome Joseph, educator, electriscientist, was born Feb. 26, 1866, in Somerset, Ohio. He taught in the district schools; and held the position of chief instructor in the national school of electricity in Chicago until 1895. accumulated a valuable professional library; and in 1859 presented seven thousand miscellaneous works to the city of Worcester as a basis for a public library. He died Oct. 17, 1865, at Worcester, Mass. Green, John, soldier, was bom Nov. 20, Germany. In 1846 he joined the United States army as sergeant of the mounted riflemen. He served throughout the civil war; and in many Indian skirmishes. In 1863 he was brevetted major; in 1890 colonel and brigadier-general. He was awarded a medal of honor for services in the Modoc war. 1825, in

Green, John, surgeon, was born April 2, 1835, in M^orcester, Mass. In 1862 he was acting assistant surgeon in the army of the Tennessee. He became surgeon to the St. Louis eye and ear infirmary in 1872; and ophthalmic surgeon to St. Luke's hospital in 1874. Green, John Cleve, merchant, philanthrowas born April 14, 1800, in Lawrenceville, N.J. He endowed Princeton seminary with the Helena professorship of history; built one of the professor's houses; and bequeathed to the institution fifty thousand dollars.
