Collins, Archie Frederick, inventor, author, was born Jan. 8, 1869, in South Bend, Ind.

In 1899 he invented the wireless telephone; and is pi:esident of the Collins wireless telephone company of New York City. He is the author of Wireless Telegraphy; Manual of Wireless Telegraphy; and The Design and Construction of Induction Coils. Collins, Charles, educator, clergyman, author, was born April 17, 1813, in North Yarmouth, Maine. He was a methodist preacher and educator of Tennessee. He was the author of Methodism and Calvinism Compared. He died July 10, 1875, in Memphis, Tenn. Collins, Clarence Lsrman, merchant, was torn Feb. 22, 1848, in Hartford, Conn. In 872 he conducted a wholesale commission business under the firm name of Collins, Whitin and company; which since 1878 has been known as Whitin and Collins. Parker, public official, banker, was born Dec. 25, 1848, in Detroit, Mich. He was educated in the public schools of Detroit, Mich. In 1888-90 he was auditor of Wayne county, Mich.; was a member of the state republican committee of Michigan for 1890-92; and in 1893-96 was sheriff of Wayne county, Mich. He is now first vicepresident of the Central savings bank of Detroit, Mich.; and is also identified with various other corporations. Collins, Edward Knight, shipowner, was born Aug. 5, 1802, in Cape Cod, Mass. He established the Dramatic line of sailing packets to Liverpool in 1836. The first steamer of the Collins line between New York and Liverpool sailed from New York in 1849. He died Jan. 22, 1878, in New York Collins,

Sackett's Harbor in 1814; represented Lewis county in the legislature of the state; and in 1821 was a member of the state constitutional convention. In 1823-25 he was a representative from New York to the eighteenth congress. He died Nov. 23, 1848, in Lowville, Conn. Collins, Mrs. Elizabeth Ballinger, minister of the Society of friends, was born in 1755, in Upper Evesham, N.J. She was a noted preacher in her denomination. Her autobiography was published in Philadelphia in 1859. She died in 1831. Collins, Francis D., lawyer, congressman, was born March 5, 1844, in Saugerjies, N.Y. He was elected a district attorney in 1869 was a member of the state senate in 187274. In 1875-79 he was a representative from Pennsylvania to the forty-fourth and fortyfifth congresses as a democrat. Collins, Frank Shipley, botanist, author, was born Feb. 6, 1848, in Charlestown, Mass. Since 1864 he has been engaged in commercial pursuits; and for many years has been a student of botany. He is the author of Flora of Middlesex County; and resides in

Maiden, Mass. Collins, Frank W., lawyer, lecturer, was born Feb. 9, 1860, in Pompey Hill, N.Y. He attended the Dryden union school and academy, and he graduated from Syracuse the university. In 189496 he was president of the Nebraska republican league, and has been assistant prosecuting attorney of Lincoln, Neb. During the campaign of 1896 he was kept in con-

committee, and lectured in the principal cities of Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Nebraska, and his lectures generally abound with an inexhaustible fund of wit.
