Griswold, Gaylotd, congressman,

in Connecticut. He was a, member of the New York state assembly in 1796-98; and in 1803-05 he was a representative from N'ew York to the eighth congress. He died in 1809. Griswold, Mrs. Hattie Tyng, educator, author, poet, was born Jan. 26, 1840, in Boston, Mass. She is an educator of Wisconsin. She is the author of Apple Blossoms, a volume of poems; Home Life of Great Authors; Waiting on Destiny; an'd Lucille and Her Friends. Her poem, Under the Daisies, has had a wide popularity as a Bong. Groesbeck, Stephen Walley, soldier, was born on Nov. 26, 1840, in Albany, N.Y. He served throughout the civil war. In 1861 he enlisted in the fourth Iowa cavalry volunteers; and was totally disabled in battle in 1862. In 1864 he accepted an appointment as second lieutenant in the veteran reserve corps; and served as such in the south during the reconstruction period. He then served in various capacities as judge advocate; in 1903 was retired as brigadiergeneral of the United States army; and died in 1904 in St. Louis, Mo. Groesbeck, Telford, lawyer, poet, was bom Aug. 5, 1853, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has been judge advocate general of Ohio. He is the author of The Incas, the Children of the Sun, an exceedingly meritorious poem, which depicts the strange and romantic civilization of the Incas.
