Coon, Henry Clarke, physician, educator, was born on Jan. 28, 1828, in West Ermeton, N.Y. In 1873 he was professor of physics and chemistry in Alfred university. He was ordained in 1869 and filled a pastorate in the First seventh day baptist church in Alfred, N.Y. He was a fellow of the American association for the advancement of science. Coon, John Henry, manufacturer, financier, was born March 24, 1831, in Johnstown, N. Y. In 1889 he helped to organize the Coon, Cluett and company, manufacturers of collars and cuffs, which developed into immense proportions. He is also a director of several business corporations of Buffalo, N.Y. Coon, Stephen Mortimer, lawyer. He is one of the foremost lawyers of Oswego, N.Y. Cooney, James, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born 1848, in Ireland. He taught school for few years after he left the Missouri university; and in 1875 located in Marshall City,

Cooper, Benjamin, naval officer, was born New Jersey. He was appointed to the United States navy as midshipman in 1809; and served during the war of 1812. He attained the grade of captain in 1828. He died June 1, 1850, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Cooper, Charles, poet, was born April 23, 1822, in England. He has held offices of trust in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the author of Signs of the Day, and other poems of merit. Cooper, Charles Briggs, business manager was born June 13, 1856, in Polo, 111. For ten years he was in the employ at the American express company; and in 1883 became identified with the Northern Pacific express company, of which he has been general agent at Chicago since 1890. Cooper, Charles Lawrence, brigadier-general United States army. He served in the civil war; and in 1865 attained the rank of first lieutenant. He then entered the regular army as second lieutenant; and in 1903 attained the rank of colonel. In 1903 he was retired as brigadier-general United States army; and resides in San Francisco, Cal. Cooper, Charles M., lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born Jan. 16, 1856, in Athens, Ga. He was elected to the lower house of the legislature in 1880; and was elected to state senate in 1884. He was attorney-general of the state in 1885-89; and in 1889 became one of three commissioners to revise the statutes of the state. In 189397 he was a representative to the fifty-third and fifty-fourth congresses as a democrat. Cooper, Daniel C, surveyor, pioneer, was born Nov. 20, 1773, in Long Hill, N.J. He surveyed the town of Dayton, Ohio; be came owner and donated lots to individuals and factories to encourage the settlement. He was a member of the Ohio state legislature. He died July 13, 1818, in Dayton, Ohio. Cooper, David, jurist. In 1850 he was appointed a judge of the United States court for the territory Minnesota. Cooper, Edmund, lawyer, state legislator, congressman, was born Sept. 11, 1821, in Franklin, Tenn. He was elected to the Tennessee state legislature; was elected a union delegate to the state convention proposed in 1861 ; and was again elected to the state legislature in 1865, but resigned.
