It seems doubtful whether Eriodendron trichistandrum A. Gray, Bot. U. S. Explor. Exp. i. 182, will eventually be referred to this genus. Chorisia soluta Donnell- Smith in Bot. Gaz. xvi. 1, seems to have affinities with Ceiba pubijiora K. Schum., but the five filaments divide, forming ten branches.
