you money and so forth. Now these Englishmen are the subjects of my friend the king of England, and their captain and all their merchants are the servants of the king of England . And this letter of authority which we give to him at his request, [is given] in order that he be not insulted by the people of our shores. If he shows this authority to any of you, ye shall show him honour; and let not one of you insult him. This is our command to all of you, Greeting.
