Flat sunk during night; tide kept her down; so we could do nothing until it fell, accomplished work during night.

Working at flat; loaded her with timber bought of Nairn. Carting with bullock &c, also walking to "Dig-down".

Came home quite tired of our trip; as we were almost devoured by flies during the day and mosquitoes kept us awake most of the night; & I had a sore foot from a cut. We gave the flat a good coat of pitch, calked her and put patches on her bottom.

Joe & Laing commenced an oven, the day I left; & were employed at it and quarrying during my absence.

MARCH 29.

Station routine.

2 men cutting hay, Mc & self riding Pilot & Jennette; as they had been out of hand for months; & were getting wild. Lewington shot 2 fine turkeys (more meat).
