McC & self after two remaining lost sheep, found 1, 1 still out. Billy the native lost them.

AUG. 20.

Cutting grass for thatch, in garden.

AUG. 21.

Sunday It was today Yongal-garry brought in the sheep.

AUG. 22.

Cutting grass & thatch. watering garden etc. counted sheep.

AUG. 23.

Many natives about homestead, & in flat with spears; from their mode of proceeding I have every reason to believe they mean mischief; as they were playing with their spears in the flat & inviting the only two (men) in the house to (h) come & look at them; & Jacky came & asked for a gun; they were also seen pointing in the direction which all of us had gone.

AUG. 24.

I went up the river and brought in Ney, & saw the bulls & bullocks, & a few natives, who told me "to be off". I supposed they thought I was after them. I left McC, Albert & Tucker at home; (the two former stowed away) to give the natives a chance of attacking the house, but they thought better of it. At about sundown I went to Withnell's to let them know there was going to be a great muster of natives;
