saw all the horses & most of the cattle. Self felling poles, & mending hurdles near, & at home, as many natives are in the vicinity, & many strangers with them.

SEPT. 24.

Hunting stock, & preparing timber etc. McC employed with a few little affairs of his own. It was quite as well we were all at home most of the time day, as the natives mustered pretty strong.

Lewington came up from "Mystery", & McC & I went down.

SEPT. 28.

Went on board "Mystery" in outer harbour & got goods on shore, found flat, too leaky to bring them up, so had to return for dinghy. Leaving McC & Taylor in "Mystery", left Harry in charge.

SEPT. 29.

Started dinghy dawn, waited till first load arrived, & returned home.

SEPT. 30.

Repaired dray & sent Lewington for stores. A after horses & cattle.
