Harry Leigh, as he was always called by his intimates, died on the 16th June 1883, at an earlier age than his father, being only forty-six. Edward Draper told me “Leigh was to have met me by appointment one Saturday evening at the Savage Club. On my way thither I saw, to my great sorrow, ‘Death of Mr. H.S. Leigh’ on the con- tents bill of an evening newspaper.”
The art school at 79 Newman Street still exists. After Leigh’s death it was carried on for many years by T.J. Heatherley, and is now under the mastership of a relative of my old fellow-student.
