Then welaughtat the bugbears of dons and armadas, With their gunpowder puffs, and their blattering

bravadoes, For well we knew how to manage the niufket and the

bow, Sir, And could bring down a Spaniard juft as eafy as a

Then our churchmen were zealous, and our lafTes truly virtuous, Sir,

And maidenheads were plenty to the honorable pur- chafers :

Divorces were feldom, as the Englifh annals tell, Sir,
