Time will not permit me to go on with the history of this fascinating subject, but I will only remark that in all the great countries radiological institutes have been founded for the purpose of carrying on researches on the medical applications alone of radioactivity, so that here again we may expect great practical results.
I hope I have now sufficiently shown the nature of the contributions of the physical laboratory to civilization, not only in the practical matters of making life easier and more agreeable, but also in the extension of our intellectual outlook, and the making of life more worth living.
