CAP. VIII. An Ad for the abrogating of the Oaths of SLipremacy and Allegiance, and appointing other Oaths. ' TXT" HEREAS by a Statute made in the firll Year of the Reign of our late Sovereign Lady Queen i Eliz. c. r, ' V V Elizabeth, intituled. An Ail to rejiore to the Crown the ancient JwiJd'i£iio7i over the Ejiate Ecdefiaf- ' t'lcal anil Spiritual, and abolijhitjg all Foreign Powers repugnant to the fame^ the Perlons therein mentioned ' were obliged to take an Oath therein n-,entioned, commonly called the Oath ofSupre?nacy : And whereas ' by another Statute made in the third Year of the Reign of our late Sovereign Lord King James the Firft, ' intituled, An Aii for the better difcevering and repreffing Popijh Recufants,' another Oath, comimonly called 3 J"^- • <^- 4> '•the Oath of Allegiance or Obedience,' was required to be taken by the Perfons therein mentioned :' II. Be it enacted by the King's and Queen's moft Excellent Majefties, by and with the Advice and Con- The old Oaths •fent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and the Commons, in this prefent Parliament aiTembled, and by °' Allegiance ' the Authority of the fame.
