VIII. Provided, and it is further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That the Cbrhtiiiffioners for Tranf- Debentures to portation do, within three Months after the paffing this Aft, make out authentick Debentures for each the feveral Ships Sum of Money due to or for every refpeftive Ship, as the fame was adjufted by the Commiffioners for taking '" , "'^^bred"" and ftating the publick Accounts of the Kingdom ; and that fuch Debenture, v/hen made out, be de- and hai"e due * livered either to the Owner of, or to the Agent appearing for, every fuch refpeftive Ship ; and fliall be Preference, made payable to fuch Perfon or his Affigns, as fuch refpeftive Owner or his Agent fhall nominate, for the Ufe of the Owners of the refpeftive Ships ; and that fuch Owner or Agent fhall, upon the Receipt of fuch Debenture, give a Receipt to the faid Commiffioners for Tranfportation, for every fuch Debenture, which -faid Receipt fliall be entered in a Book kept for that Purpofe in the Office of Tranfportation ; and that fuch Debenture or Debentures be numbred in Courfe, beginning with the firft Ship that was -hired, with the ■ Fioure of One, and fo fucceffively, according to "the Day the faid Ships were hired, whether by His Ma- jefty's Commiffioners for the Navy, the Officers for Victualling, the Officers of the Ordnance, or the Com- miffioners for Tranfportation, to the end that no undue Preference may he made ; aniitit.fo fall ou,t,that more than one Ship was hired in one Day, the refpeftive Owner or A^ent fliall hays his or their De- bentures numbred, as their refpeftive Ships iland.regiftred in the refpeftive Offices wh'efethey were takeii up or hired.
