A.D. 7<55. for Payment of the Annuities, to be paid into the Exchequer. 5 & 6 W. & M, c. 7. ninety-five Years, in the fame Manner and Form, and by fuch Rules, Ways and Means, and unde fuch Penalties and Forfeitures, and with fuch Power of Mitigation, and other Powers, as_ the like or tin; faid Duties of Excife granted by the faid Act of the fifth Year of their late Majefties Reign are thereby or by any other Aft or AiSts, or Lav/ whatfoever, for or concerning any the Duties of Excife upon Beer, Ale, or other Liquors, now in force, enafted or appointed to be raifed, levied, collected and paid, during the Remainder of the faid Term of fjxteen Years therein granted, and that fo rnuch of the faid 5 & ew. & M. A.6t of the fifth Year of tlieir late Majefties Reign, as concerns only the faid Duties of Excife, and of • "=• 7> the faid other Laws of Excife relating thereunto, as are now in force for the raifing, levying, collefting, and anfwering the faid Duties of Excife granted in the fifth Year of their late Majefties Reign, fhall be continued, and revived, and be praftiled, put in Execution, and obferved, in and for the raifing, levy- ing, colledting, and anfwering the faid Duties of Excife by this AiSt granted, for and during the faid Term of ninety-five Years, and all Arrearages thereof, for the Purpofes in this A£t exprefTed, as fully and cfFedtually as if the famewere particularly and at large re-ena£ted in the Body of this prefent A6t. XVIL And to the Intent that a good, fure, and lafling Security and Fund may be fettled and efta. blilhed, for the conftant Payment of all the Annuities to be purchafed upon this AB: ; be it further the Monies ari- enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That all the Monies arifing from time to time, by or for the faid fiogbythisAa, Subfidies of Tonnage and Poundage upon Wines, Goods, and Merchandizes by this Aift granted, and by or for the faid feverai and refpedtive Duties and Impofitions by this Aft continued, for or upon Coals, Culm, and Cynders, and by or for the faid feverai Duties of Excife upon Beer, Ale, and other Li- quors, or by or i'or any other Duties by this A£l granted or continued, and every of them (the neceflary Charges of managing, raifing, levying, coUeiling, aniwering, paying, and accounting for the faid fe- verai Subfidies, Rates, Impofitions, and other Duties only excepted) fhall, from time to time, from the refpe6tive Commencements of the faid Subfidies, Rates, Impofitions, and other Payments iefpeftively, and for and during the feverai Terms or Times therein feverally granted or intended to be granted by this A£t, be brought and paid by the refpe£tive Commiffioners, Receivers General, or fuch Perfons as for the time being fhall have the Receipt thereof, as the fame fhall be raifed (who are hereby required and enjoined td bring and pay the fame accordingly) into the Receipt of the Exchequer, for the Purpofes in this Aft exprefTed, diftinftly and feparately from all other Monies whatfoever, that are or fhall be pay- able by them into the faid Receipt; and that all the Monies to arife by virtue of the faid Aft of the fifth Year of their faid late Majefties Reign, of or for the faid Duties of Excife thereby granted, after the faid Lottery Annuities therein mentioned fhall be paid olF, or fufficient Money fhall be referved in the Ex- chequer for paying off the fame, fhall in like Manner, from time to time, be brought and paid into the Receipt of Exchequer, for the Purpofes in this Aft exprefTed, diftinftly and apart as aforefaid; and the refpeftive Commiffioners and Receivers General of the faid feverai Impofitions, Rates, Subfidies, and other Duties hereby required to be paid into the Receipt of Exchequer as aforefaid, fhall make or caufe to be made the Payments thereof into the faid Receipt of Exchequer, according to the true Meaning of this' Aft weekly ; to wit, on Wednefday in every Week, if it te not an Holyday ; and if it be, then on the next Day after, that is not an JHolyday XVIII. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That there fhall be provided and kept in the Office of the Auditor of the Receipt of her Majelty's Exchequer, one or more Books, in which all the Monies hereby appointed to be paid in v/eckly as aforefaid, and which fhall be brought to the faid Receipt, fhall be entred apart and diftinft from all other Monies paid into the faid Receipt, on any other Account whatfoever. XIX. And to the End all the Monies by this Aft appropriated for Payment of the Annuities to be purchafed upon this Aft, may be duly and certainly raifed and brought into the Receipt of Exchequer for that Purpofe; it is hereby further enatted. That from time to time, during the Continuance of this Aft, there fhall be continued or appointed Commiffioners, Receivers General, Comptrollers, Colleftors, and other proper Officers for raifing the feverai Duties by this Act granted, and for keeping the Accounts of the fame ; and that the refpeftive Commiffioners or chief Managers thereof, fhall from time to time "weekly compute and afcertain the Monies of each Branch of the faid Duties hereby granted or continued, which ought to be paid into the Exchequer on every Wednefday, or on the fubfeqyent Day, not being an Holyday as aforefaid ; and that all Commiffioners, Receivers General, Comptrollers, Colleftors, aqd other Officers, who are or fhall be concerned in the managing, raifing, levying, receiving, collefting, pr paying the fame, or in keeping the Accounts thereof, fhall perform their feverai and refpedtive Duties therein, as to them, refpeftivtiy ftiall appertain, under fuch and the like Penalties, Forfeitures and D^f- abilities, for any Offence or Negleft therein, or for detaining, diverting, or mifapplying any Part of the faid Monies, as are prcfcribed, and to be inflifted by virtue of an Aft of Parliament made and paffed in the ninth Year of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King William the Third, (intitided. An JH for raifing a Sum not exceeding two Jldillions, upon a Fund fr Payment of Annuities, after the Rate of eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, and for fettling the fKude to the Eaft Indies) for the like OfFence or Negleft in relation to the Duties upon Salt, and upon ftampt Vellum, Parchment, and Paper, thereby granted, or for detaining, diverting, or mifapplying any Part of the Monies which were granted by the Aft laft mentioned.
