Seal of Great Britain, to be direfted to fuch Perfon and Perfons as fhall be therein named, conftituting them and fuch a Number of them, as fiiall be therein mentioned, Juftices of the Queen, her Heirs and Succefibrs, to enquire by the Oaths of good and lawful Men of fuch County and Counties of Scotland as ' fhall be named therein, of all Treafons, Mifprifions of Treafon, Murders, and other Felonies commit- ted in fuch County by a Peer or Peers of Great Britain, which Inquifition fliall be taken and made in the fame Manner as Indidtments found and taken before Juftices of Oyer and Tertniner of any County of Eng-' land, and fhall be of the fame Effeft, and proceeded upon in the fame Method as any Inquifition found before Juftices of Oyer and Terminer in England, whereby any Peer is indifted for any fuch Offence; and fuch Juftices fhall ilTue Mandates or Precepts to the Sheriffs of the refpeftive Counties of Scotland, to re- turn to them at fuch Day and Place as they fhall appoint, fuch and fo many good and lawful Men of the fame County, as may be fufficient, to enquire of the Ofi'enccs aforefaid, and twelve or more of them fo returned, being fworn, fliall be fuiEcient to make fuch Enquiry, and find any Indiftment ; and if the Sherift" of fuch County fhall not furamon a fufficient Number of Men to m.ake fuch Inquifition, the Ju- ftices that do proceed upon fuch Commiffion may impofe a fine u'ponfuch Sheriff, which fhall be levied by Procefs out of the Exchequer ; and if any of the Perfons fummoned by the Sheriff to enquire, as afore- faid, flaall not appear, the Juftices may jn like Manner impofe a Fine upon fuch Ferfon fo making D.e- fa^lt, to be levied i{i Manner aforefaid, " ~ , I XIIL And
