'Crpwa Seconds the faid Paftboards, Mildboards, and Sc.ileboards, and the faid Books, Prints, and Maps to be imported, as aforefaid, fhall 'be paid b-y the refpedlive Importers thereof, from time to time. XXXIV. And it is hereby declared, That the Values of fuch of the faid Paper, and of the faid Books, . Prints, and Maps, as are to pay the faid Duties adValorem, fhali, in all Cafes, be taken to be fo much as • fuch imported Kinds are really -vvorth, to be fold at the Port of Importation, "without any Abatement for the Duties thereupon charged by this or any former Ails; and that the refpeftive Cuftomer, ColIeiStor, Comptroller, or other Perfon or Perfons, Officer or Officers of the Cuftoms, for the time being, {hall re- ceive and levy the fame Duties fO;payabre sa' /^(j/arow, upon the Oath of the Merchant or Importer accord- "ingly : And fuch Oath fhall and may be adminiflred, and all other Matters done for afcertaining the faid Duties of fuch Paper, and of fuch Books, Prints, and Maps fo payable iJi^/^tr/or^w, in the fame Manner and 'Form as are lawfully ufed andpraftifed for afcertaining an'y Duties payable ad Valorem, upon any other Commodities imported. XXXV. And be it farther enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That the feveral Rates and Duties by this Aft fet or impofed upon all or any the faid Sorts of Paper, and upon all or any the faid Paftboards, Mild- boards, and Scaleboards, and the faid Books, Prints, and Maps, to be imported and brought into Great -■Britain, fhall, from time to time, be fatisfied and paid in ready Money, upon the Entry or Entries made, and before the Landing thereof; and that in cafe any of the faid imported Paper, or any the faid Paftboards, Mildboards, and Scaleboards, Books, Prints, or Maps, fhall be landed or put on fhore out of any Ship or Veil'el, before due Entry be made thereof at the Cuftom-houfe in the Port or Place -where the fame fhall be -imported, and before the faid Duties by this Aft charged or chargeable thereupon, fhall be duly paid, or without a Warrant for the Landing or Delivering the fame, firfi: figned by the Commiffioners, Colleftors, ■or other proper Officer or Officers of the Cuftoms refpeftively. That all fuch Paper, and all the faid Paft- boards, Mildboards, and Scaleboards, Books, Prints, and Maps, as fhall be fo landed or put on fhore, or ■taken out of any Ship or Veffel, contrary to the true Meaning hereof, or the Value of the iame, fhall be 'forfeited, and fhall and may be feized and recovered of the Importer or Proprietor thereof, to wit, one Moiety of the fame to the Ufe of her Majefty, her Heirs and SuccefTors, and the other Moiety of the fame to the Ufe of fuch Perfon or Perfons as will feize, inform, or fue for the fame, or the Value thereof, in any her Majefty's Courts of Record at Weftminjier, for any fuch Offences committed in England, Wales, or Bervjick upon Tweed, or in her Majefty's Court of Seffiojn, Court of Jufticiary, or Court of Exchequer in Scotla^id, for any fuch Offences committed in Scotland, by Aftion, Bill, Suit, or Information, wherein no Eflbin, Proteftion, or Wager of Law fhall be allowed. XXXVI. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That the faid Duties upon the faid imported Paper and Boards, and upon the faid imported Books, Prints, and Maps, during the Continuance thereof, fliall be afcertained, fecured, raifed, levied, recovered, and anfwered, fortheUi'es and Purpofes in this Aft exprefled, by fuch Rules, Ways, Means and Methods, and under fuch Penalties and Forfeitures, and in fuch Manner and Form, as the prefent Duties upon fuch Paper, Boards, or fuch Books, Prints, or Maps refpeftively, or any of them, are by any Law or Statute now in Force, to be afcertained, fecured, raifed, levied, recovered and anfwered, during the Continuance thereof refpectively. XXXVII. And be it enafted and declared by the Authority aforefaid. That fuch of the Duties impofed by this Aft upon the faid Paper and Boards, and upon the faid Books, Prints, and Maps, as fhall arife in England, Wales, and the Town of Bervjick upon Tweed, fhall be under the Management of the Commiffioners and Officers of the Cuftoms in England, for the time being ; and fuch of the Duties impofed by this Aft upon ■imported Paper and Boards, orfuch Books, Prints, or Maps, as aforefaid, as fhall arife in iSfsf/cHa', fhall be under the Management of the Commiffioners and Officers of the Cuftoms in Scotland, for the time being ; and that the refpeftive Receivers General of the Cuftoms in England 2.nd Scotland, for the time being, fliall, from time to time, pay or caufe to be paid, all the Monies that they refpeftively fhall receive of the fiid Duties for the faid Paper and Boards, and for fuch Books, Prints, and Maps imported, as aforefaid, (the nrccftary Charges of raifing and accounting for the fame excepted) into the Receipt of her Majefty's Exclie- ■quer in England, diftin£Hy and apart from all other Branches of the publick Revenues, for the Purpofes in this Aft exprefled, and under the like Penalties, Forfeitures and Difabilities as are to be inflifted by this Aft, ■for diverting or mif^ipplying any Mon y by this Aft appropiiated or appointed for any the Purpofes herein after mentioned. XXXVIII. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That there fhall be raifed, levied, col- lefted and paid, to and for the Ufe of her Majefty, her Heirs and Succeffors, for and upon all Paper of what Kind fcever, ai'id irpon all Paftboards, Mildboards, and Scaleboards, which -fliall-, at any Time or Times within or during the Term of thirty-two Years, to be reckoned from the four and twen;ieth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and twelve, be made in Great Britai?!-, the feveral and reipective Duties herein after-mentioned, that is to fay. For and upon all Paper ufually called or known by the Name of I)emy Fine, which fhall be-fo made in Great Britain, the Sum of one Shilling and fix Pence for every Ream, and after that Rate for a greater or lelTer Quantity. For and upon all Paper ufually called or known by the Name of Demy Second, which fhall be {o made in Great Britain, the Sum of one Shilling for every Ream, and after that Rate for a greater or lefTer Qiiantity. For and upon all Paper ufually called or known by the Name of Crown Fine, which fhall be fo madcrin Great Britain, the Sum of one Shilling for every Ream, and after that Rate for a greater or lefler Quantity.
