LIIL And whereas ths Ordering the Militia in the Ifie of JVighy has always been in the Governor- or Lieutenant Governor of the faid Ifland : And whereas from the Length of Time fmce the Militia. Governor cf the thereof was raifed, the raifmg the fame in Manner heretofore accuftomed, may be attended with many Iilecf Witht ii Difficulties ; Be it ena6ted. That the Governor of the faid Ifland fliall appoint the Officeis of the Militia- to be raifed in the faid Ifland, and fhall and is hereby impowered and required to ail in the Execution- of this A£l, in the fame Manner as his Majefty's Lieutenants of Counties are hereby impowered and re- quired to act ; and fl:!all appoint five or more Deputies to ail with him in and for the faid Ifland ; which-- Deputies and Officers of the Militia Ihall be qualified in the fame Manner, and are hereby impowered- and required to a£l in the Execution of this Act, in the fame Manner, and under the fame Directions, qualified and aft Pfovifions and Penalties, as Deputy Lieutenants and Officers of the Militia in the feveral Counties with- and the Militia of the laid ifland ihal! be railed m uthampton^ and fhall be deemed a Part of the Militia- be raifed as in the of the faid County ; and after the fame fhall be fo raifed, the faid Governor, Li-^'utenant Governor, and CountyofSouih- D-^putics, {hall Order and direft the training and exercifing the laid Militia within the faid Ifland, in the- am. ton, and {^^^q Manner as ^is Majefty's Lieutenants, and the Deputy Lieutenants are by this A61: authorifed and theieof, &c. directed to do in any County within that Fart or Great Britain called hngland. Provided always, and be it enadied, T'hat the Militia of the Ifland of Purbeck fhall remain fepa- beck. is to be fe- rate from that of the County of Dorfet^ as heretofore has been ufed ; and the Number of Militia Men to parate from that ^e raifed for the faid Ifland fhall be eighty, Part of fix hundred and forty appointed by this AGt to be Dovil'7Tdf;o raifed for the County of Dcrfet, with the County of the Town of Poole, with a Field Officer, and other- Kienaic to raifed P'oper Officers ; and the fiiid Ifland ihall, as to all the Purpofes of this A£t, be confidered as if it were therein, with a a diftiniSt County of itfelf; and all the Powers given and Provifions made by this Act with refpect to F.eld Officer, &c. Counties, and the Militia tliereof, fhall take Place and be in Force with refpect to the faid Ifland and the. Militia thereof, except only as to the feveral Particulars herein exprefl'ed, and otherwife provided for; Three or more that is to fay. The Number of Deputy Lieutenants to be appointed for the faid Ifland fhall be three, or l^ll^l^- ^^""' more (if fo many duly qualified can be therein found) any two of which faid Deputy Lieutenants fhali- have and excrcife all the Powers conferred by this A£t on any three Deputy Lieutenants of any County, or on any two Deputy Lieutenants, toi'ether with any one Juftice of the Peace, or on any one Deputy Lieutenant, together with any two Juftices of the Peace of any County ; and the El^ates requifite for the Qualification of the Deputy Lieutenants and Officers of the Militia in the faid Ifland, fliall be as> follows; A Deputy Lieutenant and Field Officer fhall be feifed or pofTefled of fuch an Eftate, and in like Manner as is in this A6t before mentioned, as a Qualification for a Deputy Lieutenant, Colonel, or other. Officer of the Militia, of the yearly Value of two hundred Pounds ; a Captain fhall be in like Manner feifed or pofTeffed of a like Eftate as aforefaid, of the yearly Value of one hundred Pounds, or be Heir- Apparent of a Perfon who fhall be in like Manner feifi-d or pofTefled of a like Eftate as aforefaid,. of the yearly Value of two hundred Pounds; a Lieutenant or Enfign fhall be in like Manner feifed or pofTefTed of a like Eftate as aforefaid, of the yearly Value of fifty Pounds, or be Son of a Perfon who fhall be, or at the Time of his Death was in like Manner feifed or poflefled of a like Eftate as- aforefaid, of the yearly Value of one hundred Pounds; one Half of all v/hich Eltates refpetftively fhall be fituate- or arifing, within the faid Ifland ; and the Penalties for adting as Deputy Lieutenants, and other Officers of the Militia of the laid Ifland, not being duly qualified, or not having delivered in their Qiialification^ and taken the Oaths, and made, repeated and fubfcribed the Declaration as aforefaid, (hall be for a Deputy Lieutenant, or Field Officer, fixty Pounds; and for a Captain, Lieutenant or Enfign, thirty Pounds;. }•■ eld Oflkcr 6ol. fuch. fcveral Penalties to be recovered by Adion of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information, in any of his Ma- ^'^jj^^"'"' 3°'" jefty's Courts of Record ^xWeJhninJltr, wherein no Eltoin, Wager of Law, Protc6tion, or more th'm jiCm. 2."^. 26.
