  • LXVI. Provided alfo, and be it ena£led, That whereas the Militia of the Tower Divijion in the

County of Middle/ex, commonly known by the Name of the Tower Hamlets, is and always has been under the Command of his Majefty's Conftable of the Tower, or Lieutenant of the Tower Hamlets, for the Service and Prefervation of that Royal Fort j' It fhall be lawful for his Majefty's faid Conftable or Tower Hamlets Lieutenant for the Time being, from time to Time to appoint his Deputy Lieutenants, and to give Com- Conftable"/the niifTions to a proper Number of Officers, to train and difcipline the Militia to be raifed within and for the faid Divifion or Hamlets, purfuant to this Ail ; and to form the fame into two Regiments of feven Com- panies each, in fuch Manner as the faid Conftable or Lieutenant hath ufed to do ; and to appoint a Serjeant Major, a Drum Major, and a Clerk, for the faid Militia ; and alfo that for defraying the necef- fary Charge of Trophies and other incident Expences of the Militia of the fame Divifion or Hamlets, it fliall be lawful for his Majefty's faid Conftable or Lieutenant, to continue to raife in every Year the Pro- portion of a fourth Part of one Month's AfibfTment of Trophy Money within the faid Divifion or Hamlets, in fuch Manner as he hath ufed to do by virtue and in purfuance of an Adl of the thirteenth and fourteenth Years of the Reign of King Charles the Second, intituled. An j1^ for ordering the Forces in the feveral Counties of this Kingdom ; any Thing in this A61 contained to the contrary in any wife not- withftanding. LXVII. And be it further enacted. That his Majefty's faid Conftable of the Tower, or Lieute- nant of the Tower Hamlets, fhall appoint a Treafurer of the faid Trophy Money, for receiving and paying fuch Monies as fhall be levied by virtue hereof, which faid Treafurer fhall yearly account in Writing, and upon Oath for the fame, to the faid Lieutenant, or his Deputy Lieutenants, or any three or more of them, which Oath they fliall have Power to adminifter ; and which Accounts for the fame fliall be certified to the Juftices of the Peace for the faid Divifion at their next General or Qiiarter- SefTions ; and that the faid Lieutenant fhall not ffxe out Warrants for raifing any Trophy Money, until the Juftices of the Peace, or the major Part of them at fuch SefTions, fhall have examined, ftated and allowed the Accounts of the Trophy Money raifed, levied and collected for the preceding Year, and certified the fame under the Hands and Seals of four or more fuch Juftices, unlefs in cafe where it fhall appear to i^uch Juftices, that by reafon of the Death of fuch Treafurer, or otherwife fuch Accounts can- not be pafl'cd. LXVIII, Provided always, and be it enacted. That the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, two ancient Towns, and their Members, and in his Abfcnce his Lieutenant or Lieutenants, may and fhall put in Execution within the faid Ports, Towns and Members, ail the Powers and Authorities given Ci.n<]^uc Portt, and his LieuteAants, icferved 2 and Militia, of the Tower, who is to appoint his Deputy Lieu- tenants, &c. 13 te 14 Car. 3 c. 3. and to appoint a Ticafurer of the Trophy Money.
