And whereas his Majefty hath been gracioufly pleafed, in Compaffion to the diftreffed Condition of feveral Widows of Officers of the Army, who have loft their Lives in the Service of the late War, or during the late Rebellion, by Orders made under his Royal Sign Manual, to direct his Commiffary General of the Mufters, to allow upon the Mufter-rolls of all the Regiments, Troops and Companies, a Number of fiditious Names therein mentioned, inflcad of Private Men, in order to raife and fettle a Fund for the Maintenance of fuch Widows of Officers as are or fliall be intitled to his Royal Bounty : Therefore for the more effedtually fulfilling his Majefty's faid gra- cious intentions, with refpe£t to the allowing of li6titious Names upon the Mufter-rolls of the faid Marine Forces while on Shore, for the Purpofes aforefaid ; Be it further enaded and declared by Fictitious Names allow- the Authority aforefaid. XVL And whereas there is and may be Occafion for the marching and quartering of the faid Marine Forces in feveral Parts of this Kingdom ; Be it further enadled by the Authority aforcfaiJ, Conftables, &c. to quar- That for and during the Continuance of this Ad, and no longer (in puifuance of an Order or Or- Inn" Alehou"i &c'" ^^^'^ in Writing in that Behalf, under the Hand of the faid Lord High Admiral, or under the ' " *"' ^' Hands of three or more of the Commiffioners for executing the Office of Lord High Admiral for the Time being) it fhall and may be lawful to and for the Conftables, Tythingmen, Headboroughs, and other Chi-f Officers and Magiftrates of Cities, Towns and Villages, and other Places within England^ Wules^ and the Town o? Berwick upon Tzveed^ and in their Default or Abfencc, for any one Juftice of the Peace inhabiting in or near any fuch City, Town, Village or Place, and for no ethers ; and fuch Conftables, and other Civil Magiftrates as aforefaid, are hereby required to quarter and billet the Marines, both Officers and Private Men in his Majefty's Service, in Inns, Livery Stables, Alehoufes, Vidualling-houfes, and the Houfes of Sellers of Wine by Retail to be drank in their own Houfes or Places thereunto belonging, and all Houfes of Perfons felling Brandy, But in no Diftilleri Strong Waters, Cyder or Metheglin, by Retail, to be drank in Houfes, other than and except Houfes, or Shcpk'-epers, the Houfe or Houfcs of any Diflillers, who keep Houfes or Places of diffilling Brandy and Strong 01 in any private Houfes. Waters, and the Houfe of any Shopkeeper, whofe principal Dealings fliall be more in other Goods and Merchai di'.es, than in Brandy and Stron;;; Waters (fo as futh Diftillcrs and Shopkeepers do not permit rr fufFer Tippling in his or their Houfes j and in no oiher, and in no private Houfes z whatfoever.
