  • faid Corporation have, from time to time, lee fuch Inverted Lands, or fuch Parts of them as they
  • could find Tenants for, at fuch Rents as could be procured for the fame; but the Profits arifing
  • from the Lands fo lett have been very fmall and inconfiderable, and much lefs than the Taxes
  • with which fuch Lands have been aflefT-'d : And whereas the faid Corporation have agreed with
  • Sir Simeon Stuart, of Harteley in the County of Southavipton, Baronet, for the Sale of Part of the
  • faid Inverted Lands, which have been at the Defire of the faij Sir Simeon Stuart left out of the
  • firft Dirtri6l herein before defcribed, for the Sum of one hundred Pounds, difcharged of all Ar-
  • rears of Taxes affelTed thereon, by virtue of the faid Adis of the fifteenth and twentieth Years of
  • King Charles the Second ; but fubjeft to future Taxes, to be afieffed by virtue of the faid A6fs :
  • And whereas it will be for the Benefit of the faid Corporation that the Inverted Lands within the
  • faid firrt- Diftrict fliould be fold for the bert Price that can be gotten for the fame, difcharged of all
  • Arrears of Taxes afielfed or to be afiefled thereon, by virtue of the faid Acts of the fifteenth and
  • twentieth Years of King Charles the Second, before the faid Lands fhall be fold ; but fubject
  • neverthelefs, in like Manner as the reft of the faid ninety- five thoufand Acres, to the Taxes to be
  • aflerted by virtue of the faid Acts, after the faid Lands fliall be fo fold ; and that in the mean
  • Time, and until fuch Lands can be drained and fold, the faid Corporation fhould be enabled to pay

' the Rates and Taxes to be allelfed by virtue of this Act upon the faid Lands, for draining the

  • fame;' Be it therefore further enacted, That tlie Receiver for the Time being of the faid Corpo- Receiver of theCcrpo-

ration fhall, out of the Taxes and Revenues of the South and Middle Levels (Part of the faid ™„vefte7Lands '" Great Level) pay upon Demand, to the Collector or Collectors, to be appointed by the Com mi f- fioners for the faid firft Diftrict, all fuch Rates and Taxes as ftiall be charged by virtue of this Act upon the faid Inverted Lands, or any Part thereof, until the fame fliall be fold as herein after is di- rected ; and fuch Receiver fhall be and he is hereby abfolutely difcharged and indemnified of and for the Sums fo by him paid to the faid Collector or Collectors, as if fuch Sum had been paid to and by the Order and Direction of the faid Corporation. XXXVIIf. Provided always, and it is hereby further enacted,. That the faid Governor, Bailiffs Corporation may appoint and Confervators, or any five or more of them, whereof the faid Governor or BailifFs, or ^ny of » CcmmifiTioner j-or^ej^ery ^hem, to be two, fliall have full Power and Authority to appoint annually, at their April Meeting, |,°°d5_"" ° one Commiffioner for every three hundred Acres of the faid Inverted Lands, for which the Taxes to be impofed by virtue of this Ace fliall be paid as aforefaid, for fo long Tiir;e as three hundred Acres of the faid Lands fliall remain inverted. XXXIX. Provided neverthelefs. That one Half of the Commiffioners fo to be appointed, who (Provifo) fhall not be Members of the faid Corporation, fliall be refpectively Owners of fix Acres or more of taxable Lands lying within the firrt Dirtrict. XL. And whereas the faid Corporation cannot fell the faid inverted Lands, difcharged of the Ar- and fell Invefted Landi, rears of Taxes, without being impowered by Authority of Parliament fo to do; Be it further en- a6ted. That it fliall be lawful for the faid Governor, Baliffs and Coniervators, or any feven or more of them,, whereof the faid Governor or Baijifts, or any of them, to be two, to grant or convey un- der the Seal of the faid Corporation, unto the faid Sir Simeon Stuart, the inverted Lands agreed to be fold as before mentioned, freed and difcharged of and from all Rates and Taxes which, at any difcharged of part. Time heretofore, have been r,jted or charged thereupon by virtue of the faid Acts of the fifteenth and twentieth Years of King Charles the Second, or of any other Act or Acts of Parliament now in being, relating to the faid Great Level, purfuant to the faid Agreement: And that it fliall be lawful for the faid Governor, Bailiffs and Confervators, or any feven or more of them, v^hereof the faid Governor or Bailiffs, or any of them, to be two, to caufe the invefted Lands within the faid firft Dirtrict to be publickly fold by Auction in Parcels, as they fhall think proper, to the bert Bidder, at the Shire Houfe in Ely aforefaid, at any April Meeting or Seffion of Sewers in O^ober, to be there held, of which Sale or Sales publick Notice (hall be given in tQ London Gazette, and alfo in the Cambridge and Ipfwich Journals, if fuch News Papers ^all then continue to be publifhed ; and fliall alfo be affixed in Writing, under the Seal of the faid Corporation, at or upon the faid Shire Houfe, . two Months at leart intervening between the Time of any fuch Sale and the Day of the Date of any fuch Ni-tice ; and that after any of the faid Lands fliall be fo fold, the faid Governor, Bailiffs and Confervators, or any. feven or more of them as aforefaid, fhall grant or convey, under the Seal of the faid Corporation, the Lands fo fold, to the refpective Purchafers thereof, freed and difcharged of and from all Rates and Taxes which, at any Time before fuch Sale, fhall have been rated or chargfcd upon the faid Lands by virtue of the faid Acts of the fifteenth and twentieth Years of King Charles the Second, or any ociicr Act or Acts of Parliament now in Force, relating to the faid Great Level ; and every fuch Grant or Conveyance (hall be valid and effectual, to all Intents and Purpofes,
