Geo. a, c. 40. Diftillers upon Licences to be taken out by them for retailing Spirituous Liquors ; 'and for 'thermit effectually rejhainlng the retailing of dijiiiled Spiriti'.ous Liquors; andfor alloivi>ig a Drawhnck upon the Exportation of Britifh made Spirits; and that the Parijh of Saint Mary le Bon, in the County of Middlefex, J]}all be under the hfpeStion of the Head Office of Excife ; certain additional Rates and Duties were laid upon Spirituous Liquors, and the faid Rates and Duties were, by the faid Adi made fubjedt and liable to the fame Ufes and Purpofes as the then fubfifting Duties on Spirituous Liquors were at that Time liable and appropriated unto : And whereas by an A6t made in the twenty-fifth Year of his faid late Majefty's Regin, intituled, AnAitforeonverting the feveral Annuities therein rnentioned iiitofeveral Joint Stocks of Annuities, transf err able at the Bank c/" England, to be charged on the Sinking Fund, and alfofor eonfoli dating the f ever al other Annuities therein mentioned^ into fever al "Joint Stocks cf An- nuities, transferrable at the South Sea Houfe; all the faid feveral and refpeiStive Annuities transferrablc at the Bank oi England, herein before-mentioned to have been charged upon any of ihe feveral Rates and Duties upon Spirituous Liquors, were, from the Time in the laid A<51: mentioned, charged upon, and directed to be paid out of, the Sinking Fund ; and fuch of the faid Rates and Duties upon Spiritu- ous Liquors as had been granted and appropriated by the feveral and refpeftive A£ts, in the faid laft- mentioned A61 before recited ; that is to fay, By the Aits which have been herein before mentioned to have been made in the fixteenth, feventeenth, and nineteenth Years of his faid late Majelly's Reign, for Payment of the faid feveral and refpeitive Annuities transferrable at the Bank of England, as aforefaid, were diredttd to be carried to, and made Part of, the faid Sinking Fund, after referving fufficient to pay the Annuities for Lives at the Exchequer, and other Charges and Licumbrances charged on the faid Rates and Duties : And whereas the Rates and Duties on Spirituous Liquors granted by the faid A61 of the twenty-fourth Year of his faid late Majeily's Reign, not being by the faid h.6X of the twenty-fourth Year of his faid late Majefty's Reign, diredtcd to be carried to, and made Part of, the Sinking Furrd, ftill remained fubjecTt and liable, in common with the former Rates and Duties on Spirituous Liquors, to the Payment of fuch Charges and Licumbrances ori- ginally charged upon the faid Rates and Duties on Spirituous Liquors, as had not been by virtue of the faid A£l of the twenty-fifth Year of the Reign of his faid Jate iVIajcfty transferred to the Sinking Fund ; that is to fay. To the Payment of the Annuity of thirty thoufand Pounds to the Eafi-India Company ; and alfo to the yearly Payment of forty-five thoufand Pounds, for anfwer- ing and payi: g certain Annuities for Lives, payable at the Exchequer ; and the Surplus of the faid Rates and Duties granted by the hOt of the twenty-fourth Year of the Reign of his faid late Ma- jefly, ftill remained, by virtue of the feveral Acls herein before recited, referved for the Difpofi- tion of Parliament : And whereas by an AJl of the thirty-third Year of the Reign of his faid late Majefty, inti:uled. An A£l for preventing the excejftve Ufe of Spirituous Liquors^ by laying addi- tional Duties thereon; for Jhortening the Prohibition of making Low Wines and Spirits from JVheat^ Barley, Malt, or other Grain, and fro?n Meal, Flour and Bran ; for encouraging the Exhortation of Britim tnade Spirits ; and for more effectually fecuring the Duties payable upon Spirits ; and preventing the fraudulent Relanding or Importation thereof; certain farther additional Rates and Duties were laid on Spirituous Liquors, and were, by the faid A61, direiSlred to be appropriated and applied to the fame Ufes and Purp )fes as the then fubfifting Duties on Spirituous Liquors were, at that Time applicable and appropriated unto; fo that as well the Surplus or Remainder of the Monies arifen or to arife from the faid Rates and Duties upon Spirituous Liquors granted by the faid A6t of the twenty-fourth Year of the Reign of his faid late A'lajefty, as from thofe granted by the faid Acl of the thirty-third Year of his faid late Majefty, after fatisfying the faid Annuities or yearly Payments of thirty thoufand Pounds, and forty-five thoufand Pounds, to the Payment of which all the Duties on Spirituous Liquors, granted by the feveral A&:s herein before-mentioned, ftand in the firft Place liable and appropriated, do, by virtue of the faid feveral Acls, ftand referved for the Difpofition of Parliament: And whereas tlie Annuities payable by virtue of this Adt in refpedt of the Sum of twelve millions, are hereby cha'ged upon, and directed to be paid out of, the Sinking Fund ;' B ; it therefore enadted by the Authority aforefaid.
