NOTES.

Newspapers and books scattered about the floor in front of chesterfield (7). Several cushions on the floor in front of chesterfield (7).

Pictures and etchings on the walls and also several photographs of criminals about the room. Also sketches of hands and feet.

HAND PROPS.

Revolver for Moriarty. Letter for Billy. Boutonnière for Watson. Loose cartridges for Holmes. Coat and boots for Billy.

OFF STAGE.

Large alarm bell off R. Slam door off R.

LIGHT PLOT.

Electric fire set in fire-place. Blue lime set up L. to shine through laboratory window and across stage. Blue strip set back of window C. to shine front of transparency backing. White strip set back of transparency. Electric standard lamp set on table between arch and window.

Note.—When dark change is over, pilot light switches off. On signal from stage manager, come up slowly on fire and strips, also red and blue calcium till full up, then comes up to quarter on red and white foots and border. As Holmes puts hand under lamp shade, switch on lamp, and come full up on foots and border light.

At end of Act on cue, all lights flash out simultaneously and up again as required, for pictures, to end Act.
