This Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany, popularly known as the "Bonn Constitution," was adopted at Bonn by a Parliamentary Council of 65 German political leaders, meeting from September 1948 to May 1949. These men were the representatives of the 46,000,000 Germans of the Western zones of Germany.
