Ramnad, Raja of; Raja Rajeswara Sethupathi, also known as Muthu Ramalinga Sethupathi Avergal; a Palaigar whose ancestors were of considerable help to the British in quelling disturbances in the southern part of the Madras Presidency; closely related to the Zemindar of Sivaganga; a liberal and enlightened Zemindar much interested in the welfare of his ryots; contributed Rs. 5,000 for a lying-in-ward in the Caste and Gosha Hospital, Madras, 1890; title of Raja is personal. Address: Ramnad, Madras Presidency, India.

Ramnagar Dhaneri, Raja of, Udit Narayan Singh; b. 1861; succeeded to title, 1889; claims descent from the Kings of Ajodyha; the settlement of the State was made with Sarabjit Singh; the estate was released from the Court of Wards in 1901 and made over to the present holder, whose title of Raja was recognised as hereditary in 1887; the estate comprises 193 villages and 95 mahals, with an annual revenue of Rs. 1,71,500. Ramaswami Aiyangar, Asur, B.A., B.L., Revenue Commissioner, Mysore State; b. 1851; passed B.A., 1869; B.L., 1874; joined Mysore State service as Munsiff, 1875; became Sub-Judge, 1880; Assistant Comptroller, 1884; Comptroller, 1886; Deputy Commissioner in several places till 1898; Inspector-General of Police, 1898; adopted effective measures to check destructiveness of sand-storms of Ralakad for which he was warmly thanked by Mysore Government; special duty to enquire and report on Chikmagalur Hospital Defalcations, 1903; received thanks of the Mysore Government, 1904; President of Committee for revising Draft Police Regulations, 1904; President of the Committee to enquire into the claims of Sri Parakalaswami Mutt to certain Honours in Vishnu Temples, 1904; Revenue Commissioner and ex-officio Director of Statistics, 1906; retired, 1911. Pattabhirama Aiyar, B.A., B.L., Judge, City Civil Court, Madras; educ: Presidency College, Madras; passed B.A., 1899; B.L., 1902; enrolled as Vakil, Madras High Court, 1903; enjoys a lucrative practice on the Original Side of the High Court; Member of the Provincial Congress Committee, Madras; Member, Pachaiyappa’s Trust Board, Madras; Secretary, Pachaiyappa’s Hostel Pund; donated a large sum of money for the Building Fund of the Hostel; elected a Fellow of the Madras University, 1912; Member, Faculty of Law, Madras University; was for some time Honorary Secretary of the Madras Mahajana Sabha; President, Sasi Vilasa Sabha, Madras; Member, Madras Corporation, 1913.
