IN The Parliament halden at Edinburgh, the 1 9. day of April, the zeir ofGad 15- 6y. zeiris. The quhilk day , the Queens Majeftie having confidered the Eflate of hir Majefties Realm , that it ftude at , the time of hir arrival furth of France , and zit prefetitly flandis at. Foirfcing alfwa the common weill of hir countrie greatumlietobeincreafed, and eftablilhed be the keiping of the common peace and quietues , amangsall herfubjedts: and like as hir hienes fen hir foirfaid arrival , hes attempted nathing contrare the eftate of reli^ gion, quhilk her Majeftie fand publiklie and univerfallie (landing , at hir arrival foirfaid, quhairbyhir Majeftie is maift worthy to be ferved, honored, and obeyed. Richt fa hir Hienes intends to continvv in thefamin gudnes and governement, in all times curriming , quhairby all her gude fubjecls, profeflburis of the religion foirfaid , fall have occafion to praife God, forhergude, happy and gratious governement. And to crave of God fra the bottom of their hearts, that he wald of his innnit gudnes, profper andblishir Majeftie and hir pofterity, with lang life, gude and happy governement, to rule and reigne over them. And to thee (feci alfwa, that all hir Hienes gude fubjecfs, profeflburis of the religion foirfaid, may allure themfelves to be in full furetie therof, and of their landis, lives, benefices, dignities, jurifdielions , priviledges, guddis, fame, andhonourisintimecumming. And with the better will jeoparde and hazard their lives and guddes in hei' Hienes fervice, againft all enemies to hir Majeftie, and to the commoun weill of this Realm at all times neidfull as their predeceflburs hes maift frankly done heirtofoir. And that without fear of any paine , punifhment , tinlell of landis , benefices, and guddis, for profefting, exercing and ufing of the faid religion , in times by-gane , and to be impute unto them , or their aires, notwithftand- inganylawes, aftis, and conftitutionis, canon, civil or municipal, or uther quhat-fum-ever ordinance heirtofoir inftjtute in the contrare. And for their great furety foirfaid, our Soveraine with the advife of the haill three Eftaites of this Parliament , hes thocht neidfull , and convenient to difpenfe , cade, abrogat, and annull, like as her Majeftie prefently difpenfis, cafiis, abrogatis , and annullis all and quhat-fum-ever law is, acts and conftitutionis , canon , civil, or municipal with all other conftitutions and practicks penall , introduced contrair to the foirfaid religion and profeflors of the famin : and ordainis them, and their pofterity , in all times to cum , to be free, and exeemedfiom all paine corporal , infamie, reproch, depriving fra benefices, dignities, or offices, or uther crime or paine quhat-fum-ever, that may be incurred, or imputed to them , be vertevv of the faidis acts, lawes, ordinances, canon, civil or Municipal, and pracficque , for contravening of the famin : rcnunceand the famin , and ftrength therof , in favoris of our faidis fubjects, to the effecT: foirfaid. Eximand hir foirfaidis fubjects , fra all, comperance, fummoningor obedience, pretended hcirafter againft them, for the caufes foirfaidis. Be quhat-fum-ever forreine perfon , or uther pretendand jurifdiction , or authoritie throw them ; Willing hir fubjecls to dwell in perpetual fecurity , and quietnes within this Realme, be making of their maift humble and faithfull obedience to hir Hienes and hir pofterity , in all times cumming heirafter allanerly. Like as alfwa her Majeftie (God willing) in times convenient , fall take further ordour, in all uther poynts, concerning the eftate of Religion , as may beft ferve for the glorie of God , commoun weill of this Re- alme, and continuing of commoun peace and quietnefle univerfallie amangis all her fubjects.
