FOR WHOSE RELIEF that letters be direct , charging all and fundry the faids annual-renters , to make payment to the faids Sheriffs, Stewards, Bailiffs, Bailiffs of Regalities, their Deputes and Clerks, Provefts and Bailiffs of Free Burrows , of the faid fixteenth pennie of all annual-rents , freelie due and payable to them, within twentie dayes next after the Charge, under the pain of Rebellion, &c. And if need be, that the faids Sheriffs, Stewards, Bailiffs of Re- galities , Clerks , Provefts , and Bailiffs of Free Burrows , poynd and diflrenyie therefore , as they fhall think moil expedient. AND His MAJESTIE and the faids Eftates , ordaine the Lords of Seffion , to be only Judges to all fufpenfions to be craved and futed by any of our Soveraigne Lords Lieges, touching the faids taxations ; Which fufpenfions , the faids Eflates finde may be granted upon lawful and equitable reafons to be confidered by them : And difcharge all other Judges within this Kingdome , of granting of any fufpenfions thereanent. With power to the faids Lords , To delegate five at the leaft of dieir ordinary number, as they fhall think expedient, To fit, cognofce, and decide the faids fufpenfions, in time of Vacance , if need be. And ilk- like , to depute Commiffioners for trying and judging of concealements , with als ample and full power to be given to them, as the faids Lords of Seflion, by vertue of this prefent Act , have. ACT III. i^Anent his Majefties Royal Prerogative , and Apparel of ' Kirkmen. OUR SOVERAIGNE LORD, With advice , confent , and affent of the whole Eflates , ac- knowledging his Majefties Soveraigne Anthoride, Princely power , Royal Prerogative , and Privi- lledge of his Crown , over all Eftates , Perfons, and Caufes whatfoever within this Kingdome, Ratifies and approves the Act of Parliament , made in the year 1606. anent the Kings Royal Prerogative, and perpe- tually confirms the fame, for his High nes , his Heires and Succeflbrs , als amply, abfolutely and freely in pll reflects , as ever any of his Majefties Royal Progenitors did pofleffe , and exercife the fame. And with- jal remembring , that in the Act of Parliament made in the year, 1609. anent the Apparel of Judges, Magi- Hlrates , and Kirk-men : IT WAS aggreed, That what order foever his Majefties Father of blefled Me- [morie fhould prefenve for the apparel of Kirkmen, and fend in Writ to his Clerk of Regifter, fhould bee a lufficient Warrant for inferting the fame in the Bookes of Parliament , to have the ftrength of ane Act there- pf : H A V E all confented , that the fame Power mall remaine with the Perfon of Our Soveraigne Lord , and His Succeflours that now is , And widi the fame claufe for execution thereof, as in the faid Axt is contained. ACT IV. Ratification of the t^AcJs Touching Religion. OUR SOVERAIGNE LORD, With advice and confent of the Eftates , ratifies and approves all and whatfoever afts and flatutes made before.anent the libertie and freedome of the true Kirk of God, ttnd Religion prefently profeffed within this Realme , And ordaines the fame to ftand in their full force and Iffect , as if they were fpecially mentioned, and fet down herein. ACT V. Ratification of the Act of Council anent Plantation of Schooled. 3 UR SOVERAIGNE LORD, with the Advice of the States, ratifies the Aft of Secret Council, dated at Edinburgh the tenth day of December, one thoufand, fix hundred, and fixteen years, made bent the planting of fchooles, with this addition , That the Bifhopsin their feveral Vifitations fhall have ovver with confent of the Heritours and moft part of the Parifhoners , And if the Heritour being lawfully arned refufes to appeare ; Then with confent of the moft part of the parifhoners, to fet down andflent x>n every Plough or Husband-land . according to the worth . for maintenance and eftablifhing of the faids chools. And if any perfon fhall find himfelfe grieved , it fhall be lawful to him to have recourfe to the Lords "Secret Councel , for redrefle of any prejudice he may or doth fuftain. And ordaine letters to be direft for arging of the poflefiburs for the time, toanfwerand obey the Schoolc-maflers of the duties that fhall be pointed in manner forefaid. ACT
