VICTORIA, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith; Empress of India.

Her Majesty was born at Kensington Palace 24 May, 1819, and baptized 24 June following by the names of Alexandra Victoria; ascended the Throne of these Realms on the death of her Uncle, King William IV. 20 June, 1837, and was crowned in Westminster Abbey, 28 June, 1838; proclaimed Empress of India at Delhi, 1 Jan. 1877; m. at the Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace, 10 Feb. 1840, to H.R.H. Prince Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel, Duke of Saxony, Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (2nd son of Ernest Frederick Anthony Charles Louis, late reigning Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha), b. 26 Aug. 1819, granted the style H.R.H. 6 Feb. empowered to quarter the Royal arms of Great Britain with his own, 7 Feb. 1810, and created Prince Consort by Letters Patent under the Great Seal 25|26 June, 1857; K.G. K.T. Grand Master of the Order of the Bath, K.P. G.C.M.G. and extra K.S.I.; Field Marshal in the Army, Colonel Grenadier Guards, Colonel-in-Chief Rifle Brigade, P.C. Chancellor University of Cambridge, Lord Warden of the Stannaries, and Chief Steward of the Duchy of Cornwall, Governor and Constable of Windsor Castle, Ranger of Windsor Great Park, Master of the Trinity House, Captain-General and Colonel Hon. Artillery Company of London, and Lord High Steward of Plymouth and of Windsor. His Royal Highness died at Windsor Castle 14 Dec. 1861, leaving by Her Majesty 4 sons and 5 daus.
