Ding dong! ding dong!
The church bells chime
At early prime—
A solemn stave—
Ding dong! ding dong!
O'er the lovers' grave.

Ding dong! ding dong!
The slow sounds weep,
And cadence keep
With the wail of woe—
Ding dong! ding dong!
O'er the grave below.

Ding dong! ding dong!
Strew garlands round
The holy ground,
Where twin hearts sleep.
Ding dong! ding dong!
And two friends weep.
