says that for the strength of this force under Gortschakoff, he had to rely upon an old ' State,' and that the actual strength would be considerably less than here shoTa ; but on the other hand, the artillerymen are not reckoned, and the addition of their numbers would make an augmenta- tion of between two and three thousand.
