(c) to traffic on a road other than a motorway information of a directional nature of the description specified in or under a diagram in Part III of Schedule 1 shall be of the size, colour and type shown in the diagram relating to that information;

(d) to traffic on roads information of the description specified in or under a diagram in Part IV of schedule 1 shall be of the size, colour and type shown in the diagram relating to that information:
Provided that until 1st January 1992 a traffic sign indicating a stopping place for stage or scheduled express carriages may, notwithstanding that it is not of the size, colour and type shown in any of the diagrams 845 to 852, be of a circular or rectangular shape of not less than 30 square centimetres on which the lettering shall be shown coloured black, dark brown, dark blue or dark red on a white or yellow background, or white or yellow on a red, blue, green, brown or black background if such sign so indicating is situated on or near any road immediately after the coming into operation of these Regulations;

(e) to traffic on a motorway information of a directional or other nature specified in or under a diagram in Part V of Schedule 1 shall be of the size, colour and type shown in the diagram relating to that information.

9A.(1) Subject to the provisions of these Regulations, a traffic sign for conveying to vehicular traffic on roads the requirement specified in paragraph (2) or (3) shall be of the size, colour and type shown in diagram 610.

(2) Except as provided in paragraph (3) the requirement conveyed by the sign shown in diagram 610 shall be that vehicular traffic passing the sign must keep to the left of the sign where the arrow is pointed downwards to the left, or to the right of the sign where the arrow is pointed downwards to the right.

(3) On an occasion when a vehicle is being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes and the observance of the requirement specified in paragraph (2) would be likely to hinder the use of that vehicle for the purpose for which it is being used on that occasion then instead of that requirement, the requirement conveyed by the traffic sign in question shall be that the vehicle shall not proceed beyond that sign in such a manner or at such a time—

(i) as is likely to cause danger to the driver of any other vehicle proceeding on or from another road or on or from another part of the same road, or

(ii) as is likely to cause danger to non-vehicular traffic proceeding on or from another road or on or from another part of the same road.

10. Subject to the provisions of these Regulations a traffic sign for conveying to vehicular traffic on roads the requirement specified in paragraph (1)(b) of the next succeeding Regulation shall be of the size, colour and type shown in diagram 601.1, a traffic sign for conveying to such vehicular traffic the requirements specified in paragraph (1)(c)(i) of the said Regulation shall be of the size, colour and type shown in diagram 602, a traffic sign for conveying to such vehicular traffic the requirements specified in paragraph (1)(c)(ii) of the said Regulation shall comprise a sign of the size colour and type shown in diagram 602 used in combination with a sign which shall be of the size,
