Health care coverage through Federal Employees Health Benefits program: demonstration project.". (b) CONFORMING AMENDMENTS.— Chapter 89 of title 5, United States Code, is amended— (Din section 8905— (A) by redesignating subsections (d) through (f) as subsections (e) through (g), respectively; and (B) by inserting after subsection (c) the following new subsection: "(d) An individual whom the Secretary of Defense determines is an eligible beneficiary under subsection (b) of section 1108 of title 10 may enroll, as part of the demonstration project under such section, in a health benefits plan under this chapter in accordance with the agreement under subsection (a) of such section between the Secretary and the Office and applicable regulations under this chapter."; (2) in section 8906(b)— (A) in paragraph (1), by striking "paragraphs (2) and (3)" and inserting in lieu thereof "paragraphs (2), (3), and (4)"; and (B) by adding at the end the following new paragraph: "(4) In the case of persons who are enrolled in a health benefits plan as part of the demonstration project under section 1108 of title 10, the Government contribution shall be subject to the limitation set forth in subsection (i) of that section."; (3) in section 8906(g)— (A) in paragraph (1), by striking "paragraph (2)" and inserting in lieu thereof "paragraphs (2) and (3)"; and (B) by adding at the end the following new paragraph: "(3) The Government contribution for persons enrolled in a health benefits plan as part of the demonstration project under section 1108 of title 10 shall be paid as provided in subsection (i) of that section."; and (4) in section 8909, by adding at the end the following new subsection: "(g) The fund described in subsection (a) is available to pay costs that the Office incurs for activities associated with implementation of the demonstration project under section 1108 of title 10.". SEC. 722. TRICARE AS SUPPLEMENT TO MEDICARE DEMONSTRATION. 10 USC 1073 (a) IN GENERAL.—(1) The Secretary of Defense shall, after ^°^' consultation with the other administering Secretaries, carry out a demonstration project in order to assess the feasibility and advisability of providing medical care coverage under the TRICARE program to the individuals described in subsection (c). The demonstration project shall be known as the "TRICARE Senior Supplement". (2) The Secretary shall commence the demonstration project not later than January 1, 2000, and shall terminate the demonstration project not later than December 31, 2002. (3) Under the demonstration project, the Secretary shall permit eligible individuals described in subsection (c) to enroll in the TRICARE program.
