C .2 96 ). (g) S U NSET.—The authority in this section shall expire on J une 3 0, 2014. SEC.598 . R E PO R T O N P LA NN I N GF OR PARTICIPATION AN DH OSTING OF THE DEPART M ENT OF DEFENSE IN INTERNATIONAL SPORTS ACTI V ITIES , COMPETITIONS, AND EVENTS. (a) R E P O R TRE Q UIRE D .— N ot later than O ctober 1, 2009, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report setting forth a comprehensive plan for the following

(1) The participation by personnel of the Department of Defense in international sports activities, competitions, and events (including the Pan American G ames, the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games, the M ilitary W orld Games, other activities of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), and the Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR)) through fiscal year 201 5 . (2) The hosting by the Department of Defense of military international sports activities, competitions, and events through fiscal year 2015. (b) EL E M ENTS.—The report re q uired by subsection (a) shall include the following: (1) A discussion of the military international sports activi- ties, competitions, and events that the Department of Defense intends to see k to host, an estimate of the costs of hosting such activities, competitions, and events that the Department intends to seek to host, and a description of the sources of funding for such costs. (2) A discussion of the use and replenishment of funds in the account in the Treasury for the Support for International Sporting Competitions for the hosting of such activities, com- petitions, and events that the Department intends to seek to host. (3) A discussion of the support that may be obtained from other departments and agencies of the F ederal Government, State and local governments, and private entities in encour- aging participation of members of the Armed Forces in inter- national sports activities, competitions, and events or in hosting of military international sports activities, competitions, and events. (4) Such recommendations for legislative or administrative action as the Secretary considers appropriate to implement or enhance planning for the matters described in subsection (a).
