Hsrgiéggiouse rmi.- Surrnms OF LIGHT-HOITSES: For supplying fog signals, light- Supplieshouses, and other lights with illuminating, cleaning, preservative, and such other materials as may be required for annual consumption; for books, boats, and furniture for stations, and not exceeding three hundred dollars for the purchase of technical and professional books and periodicals for the use of the Light-House Board, and other incidental expenses, three hundred and seventy thousand dollars: Provided That ggzjmions of this sum not exceeding two thousand dollars may be expended for ` photolithographs, charts of distribution, and necessary inexpensive illustrations for publications of the Light-House Board. _ Rnrnrns or Lic-nr-Honsnsz For repairing, rebuilding, and improv- R°P°"°· ing light-houses and buildings, for improvements to grounds connected therewith; for establishing and repairing pierhead and other beacon lights; for illuminatin g apparatus and machinery to replace that already in use; and for incidental expenses relating to these various objects, three hundred and forty-five thousand dollars. Exrnusns or Lrenr-Vnssnrsz For seamen’s wages, rations, repairs, 1-is¤¤·v¤¤¤¤1¤- salaries, supplies, and temporary employment and incidental expenses of light-vessels, two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. · EXPENSES OF BUOYAGE: For expenses of establishing, replacing B¤¤s·¤z¤- and maintaining buoys, spindles, and day beacons, and for incidental expenses relating thereto, three hundred and thirty thousand dollars. EXPENSES OF Fox; SIGNALS: For establishing, replacing, duplicat- *`°¥ °iS¤¤i¤· ing, and improving fog signals and buildings connected therewith, and for repairs and incidental expenses of the same, seventy thousand dollars. INs1=EcrrNG Lmrrrs: For mileage or traveling expenses of members tgniipecting lights of the Light-House Board, including rewards paid for information as ° ` to collisions, and for the apprehension of those who damage light-house property, three thousand dollars. LIGHTING OF RIVERS: For establishing, supplying, and maintaining Lighting °i *'i"°"· post lights on the Hudson and East rivers, New York; the Raritan River, New Jersey; Connecticut River, Thames River between Norwich and New London, Connecticut; the Deleware River, between Philadelphia and Bordentown, New Jersey; the Elk River, Maryland; Cape Fear River, North Carolina; Savannah River, Georgia; Saint Johns and Indian rivers, Florida; at Chicott Pass, and to mark navigable channel along Grand Lake, Louisiana; at the mouth of Red River, Louisiana; on the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, and Great Kanawha rivers; Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers, Calilbrnia; on the Columbia and Willamette rivers, Oregon; on Puget Sound, Washingtori Sound, and adiacent waters, \Vashington; and the channels in Saint Louis and Superior Bays at the head of Lake Supe· _ Tl0I'; the Light-House Board being hereby authorized to lease the nec- L°*‘“°° “""“°“’°°‘ essary ground for all such lights and beacons as are for temporary use or are used to point out changeable channels, and which in consequence can not be made permanent, two hundred and eighty thousand dollars. SURVEY or Lrenr-HoUsE Srrns: For preliminary examinations, S¤¤‘°¥ °i¤i*°*· surveys, and plans for determining the proper sites and cost of lighthouses and structures for which estimates are to be made to Congress, one thousand dollars. von xxvrr-23
