  • ·That the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States be authorized and directed to pay to the legal representatives of John Smith, late

of N ew Mexico, the sum of one thousand dollars, being in full satisfaction of the judgment obtained by said John Smith in the district court of the iirst judicial district of the Territory of New Mexico, at the August term, eighteen hundred and sixty-nine, against Lieutenant- Colonel John R. Brooke, Third Infantry, United States Army, now niaior-general, United States Army, for alleged trespass and mise imprisonment: Provided, That the provisions of this Act shall be ggvvgvhcfcpm in accepted by the legal representatives of said John Smith as a settle- mn ti claims against ment in lull of all claims against John R.
