SEC. 6. That the control of assignment of space in said building or build ings s hall be vested in the Publ ic Bui lding s Com missio n, established by section 10 of the Act approved March 1, 1919 . Com- pensation for such occupancy, space, and facilities as are utilized by the Commissioners of the District of Columbia shall be ona rental basis on terms to be fixed by a board consisting of the director of Public Buildin gs and Public Parks of the National Capital, the engineer commissioner of the District of Columbia, and the Super- vising Architect of the Treasury . SEC . 7. That the plans for such building or buildings shall be pre- pared by the Director of Public Buildings and Public Parks of the National Capital in consultation with the Commission of Fine Arts ; and he shall be charged with the custody, protection, maintenance, repair, and operation of said building or buildings . SEC. 8. Authority is hereby given for closing and vacating such portions of streets as lie between such sites and such alleys as inter- sect such sites, and the portions of such streets and alleys so closed and vacated shall thereupon become parts of such site . SEC. 9 . Not more than $10,000 of any funds hereafter appropriated for the purposes of this Act may be expended by the Director of Public Buildings and Public Parks for obtaining, by contract or oth erwise, such spe cial tec hnical p ersonal services as may be neces - sary, at rates of pay as may be fixed by the director not exceeding tho se usual for sim ilar ser vices, w ithout r eference to civi l-servic e rules and the Classification Act of 1923 . SEC. 10. Appropriations of the amount necessary to carry out the provisions of sections 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of this Act, not exceeding $1,750,000, are hereby authorized . Approved, February 27, 1929 . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following quoted provisions of Article I covering salary class 2, teachers in jun ior high schools , are he reby rep ealed . u CLASS 2 .-TEACHERS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS "A teacher in the junior high schools who possesses the eligibility requirements of teachers in the elementary schools and who in addi- tion has met the higher eligibility requirements established by the Bo ard of E ducation for tea chers in junior high sch ools sha ll be pa id in accordance with the following schedules "A t eacher i n the ju nior hig h school who pos sesses th e eligib ility re quiremen ts of te achers i n the se nior hig h and no rmal sch ools sha ll be paid in accordance with the following schedules," so that the salary schedule as amended shall read as follows 1343 Storage space, facili- ties, etc ., for use of General Supply Com- mi tte e, dep art men ts, etc. Assignment of space vested in Public Build- ings Commis sion .
