BUREA U OF ENGRA VING AND PR INTIN G For the work of engraving and printing, exclusive of repay work, during the fiscal year 1931, of not exceeding 68,050,000 delivered sheets of United States currency and national-bank currency, 93,033,201 delivered sheets of internal-revenue stamps including op ium orders and spec ial-tax st amps requ ired under the Act of December 17, 1914 (U . S . C ., title 26, sec . 211), 5,193,602 delivered sheets of withdrawal permits, and 7,817,431 delivered sheets of checks, drafts, and miscellaneous work, as follows For the director, two assistant directors, and other personal serv- ic es in the Di ctrict of C olumbia, in cluding wag es of rotar y press pla te printers at per diem rates and all other plate printers at piece rates to be fixed by the Secretary of the Treasury, not to exceed the rates usually paid for such work ; for engravers' and printers' materials and other materials, including distinctive and nondistinctive paper, except distinctive paper for United States currency, national-bank currency, and Federal reserve bank currency ; equipment of, repairs to, and maintenance of buildings and grounds and for minor altera- tions to buildings ; directories, technical books and periodicals, and books of reference, n ot exceeding $300 ; r ent of ware hou se in the District of Columbia ; traveling expenses not to exceed $2,000 ; equipment, maintenance, and supplies for the emergency room for the use of all employees in the Bureau of Engraving and Printing who may be taken suddenly ill or receive injury While on duty ; m iscel laneo us exp enses , inc luding not to exc eed $ 1,500 for a rticl es approved by the Secretary of the Treasury as being necessary for the protection of the person of employees ; for transfer to the Bureau of Standards for scientific investigations in connection with the work of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing not to exceed $15,000 ; and for purchase, maintenance, and driving of necessary motor- propelled and horse-drawn passenger-carrying vehicles, when, in writing, ordered by the Secretary of the Treasury, $6,125,000, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury . During the fiscal year 1931 all proceeds derived from work per- formed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, by direction of the Secretary of the Treasury, not covered and embraced in the appropriation for said bureau for the said fiscal year, instead of being covered into the Treasury as miscellaneous receipts, as pro- vided by the Act of August 4, 18S6 (U.
