Sac . 3 . That all provisions of law making it incumbent upon any inPr ovi sio ns r street railway company to bear the expense of policemen at street repealed . railway crossings and intersections, the laying of new pavement, the making of permanent improvements, renewals, or repairs to the pa vement of streets and publi c bridges , and th e permane nt improv e- ments, renewals, or repairs to public bridges over which the street- car lines operate, are hereby repea led, such repeal to be effective on th e date th e unifica tion here in author ized bec omes oper ative : Pr o - vided, That the Capital Transit Company herein provided for shall bear the entire cost of paving, repairs, or replacements incident to tr ack re pairs, repla cement s, or change s made at a t ime wh en the street or bridge is not being paved, and shall bear one-half the cost of other pavin g, rep aving, or ma intena nce of paving betwe en its track and for two feet outside the outer rails and shall bear the ex- cess cost of construction and maintenance of public bridges due to the existence or in stallation of it s tracks on such bridges : P rovide d staubowner.'a r eal further, That nothing herein contained shall relieve said Capital Transit Company from liability for street paving as owner of real estate apart from right of way occupied by its tracks as provided by section 8 of the Act of Congress entitled "An Act making appro- Vol. 39, p. 71Q priations to provide for the expenses of the government of the Dis- I So In original .
