MIGRATORY BIRD CONSERVATION ACT For carry ing into effec t the provisi ons of the Ac t entitled "An Act to more effectively meet the obligations of the United States under the migratory-bird treaty with Great Britain (39 Stat ., pt . 2, p . 1702) by lessening the dangers threatening migratory game birds from drainage and other causes by the acquisition of areas of land and of water to furnish in perpetuity reservation for the ade- quate protection of such birds ; and authorizing appropriations for the establishment of such areas, their maintenance and improvement, a nd f or o ther pur pose s ", approved Febru ary 18, 1929 (U.S .C ., Supp . ex- VI, title 16, sets . 715-715r), $62,419, authorized by section 12 of the Act, which sum is a part of the remaining $792,475 of the $1,000,000 authorized to be appropriated for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1933 . Dis - Total, Bureau of Bio logical Survey , $1,054,084, of which amou nt not to exceed $252,308 may be expended for departmental personal services in the District of Columbia, and not to exceed $14,450 shall be available for the purchase of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles necessary in the conduct of field work outside the District of Columbia . BUREAU OF PUBLIC ROADS For necessary expenses of the Bureau of Public Roads, including salaries and the employment of labor in the city of Washington and elsewhere, supplies, office and laboratory fixtures and apparatus, traveling and other necessary expenses ; for conducting research and investigational studies, either independently or in cooperation with State highway departments, or other agencies, including studies of high way admi nist rati on, legi slat ion, fin ance , ec onom ics, tra nspo rt, construction, operation, maintenance, utilization, and safety, and of street and highway traffic control ; investigations and experiments in the best methods of road making, especially by the use of local materials ; studies of types of mechanical plants and appliances used for road building and maintenance and of methods of road repair and maintenance suited to the needs of different localities ; and main- tenance and repairs of experimental highways, including the pur- chase of mater ials and equi pment ; for fur nishing exert advice on these subjects ; for collating, reporting, and illustrating the results of same ; and for preparing, publishing, and distributing bulletins and reports ; to be paid from any moneys available from the adminis- trative funds provided under the Act of July 11, 1916 (39 Stat ., pp . 355-359), as amended, or as otherwise provided .
