[CHAPTER 553 .] AN ACT To amend the Act entitled "An Act to insure adequate supplies of timber and other forest products for the people of the United States, to promote the full use for timber growing and other purposes of forest lands in the United States, includ- ing farm wood lots and those abandoned areas not suitable for agricultural production, and to secure the correlation and the most economical conduct of forest research in the Department of Agriculture, through research in reforesta- tion, timbe r gro wing, pro tecti on, u tiliz ation, for est e conom ics an d rel ated subjects, and for other purposes", approved May 22, 1928 . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States o f America in Congress assembled, That section 2 of the Act of May 22, 1928 (45 Stat. 699; U. S. C., Supp. VII, title 16, sec. 581a), be, and the same is hereby, amended by adding thereto the following paragraph "The Secreta ry of Ag ricultur e is fur ther aut horized to estab lish and maintain a forest experiment station in the Great Plains and pr airie St ates, to be know n as the `Great Plains F orest Ex periment Station', and to acquire by purchase, condemnation, donation, or otherwise such real property or interest therein as in his judgment is required for the use of said station, including the making of neces- sa ry expen ditures in exami ning, ap praising, and su rveying any such property and in doing all things incident to perfecting title thereto in the Uni ted States .
