For salaries and employment of labor in the city of Washington and elsewhere, furniture, supplies, including the purchase of bags, tags, and labels printed in the course of manufacture traveling, and all other expenses necessary in conducting investigations and carry- ing out the work of the Bureau, including cooperation with Federal, State, county, or other agencies or with farm bureaus, organizations, or individuals, as follows General a dministra . General administrative expenses : For necessary expenses for gen- tioe expen ses . eral administrative purposes, including the salary of chief of bureau and other personal services in the District of Columbia, $79,595 . Maintenance of mammal and bird reservations : For the mainte- nance of the Montana National Bison Range and other reservations and for the maintenance of game introduced into suitable localities on public lands, under supervision of the Biological Survey, includ- ing construction of fencing, wardens' quarters, shelters for animals, landings, roads, trails, bridges, ditches, telephone lines, rockwork, bulkheads, and other improvements necessary for the economical ad ministrati on and pro tection of the reser vations, a nd for the enforce- ment of section 84 of the Act approved March 4, 1909 (U . S . C., title 18, sec . 145), entitled "An Act to codify, revise, and amend the penal laws of the United States ", and Acts amendatory thereto, a nd sec tion 10 of the M igrat ory Bi rd Co nserva tion Act of Febr uary 18, 1929 (U . S . C ., Supp. VII, title 16, sec . 715i), $56,727 : Provided, That $2,500 may be used for the purchase, capture, and t ransporta- tion of game for national reservations . Food habi ts of birds and animals : For investigating the food habits and economic value of North American birds and animals i n rela tion to agr icult ure, hortic ultur e, and fore stry, inclu ding methods of conserving beneficial and controlling injurious birds and animals, $60,640. Control of predatory animals and injurious rodents : F or in ve st i- gations, demonstrations, and cooperation in destroying animals injurious to agriculture, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry, and wild game ; and in protecting stock and other domestic animals throu gh the supp ressio n of rabies and other disea ses i n pred atory wild animals, $600,000 . Production of fur-bearing animals : For investigations, experi- ments, demonstrations, and cooperation in connection with the pro- duction and utilization of fur-bearing animals raised for meat and fur, in the United States and Alaska, $56,112 . Biological investigations : For biological investigations, including the relations, habits, geographic distribution, and migration of ani- mals and plants, and the preparation of maps of the life zones, and including $15,738 for investigations of the relations of wild animal life to frests, under section 5 of the Act approved May 22, 1928 (U . S . C., Supp . VII, title 16, sec . 581d), and for investigations, experiments, and demonstrations in the establishment, improvement, and increase of the reindeer industry and of musk oxen and moun- tain sheep in Alaska, including the erection of necessary buildings, and other structures, $118,149 . Protection of migratory birds : For all necessary expenses for enforcing the provisions of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of July 3, 1918 (U. S . C ., title 16, sees. 703-711), to carry into effect the treaty with Great Britain for the protection of birds migrating between Mammal and bir d reservations . Montana bison range .
